Recently a very well known nursery rhyme began playing over and over in my mind. I wasn’t sure why I thought of it, but just couldn’t seem to shake it. As the day progressed, some interesting insights began to embed into my mind. May you also be blessed as The Lord ties the Truth of His Word to this familiar prose, and every time you hear this rhyme be reminded of the deeper Truth. 🙂
Mary had a little Lamb, His fleece was white as snow. (1 Peter 1:18-19: “…knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from you fathers, but with precious blood, as of a faultless and pure Lamb, the blood of Christ.”)
And everywhere that Mary went, the Lamb was sure to go. (Psalm 34:7: “and the angel of The Lord encamps around those who fear Him and delivers them.”)
He followed her to school one day, which was against the rule. (Engel vs. Vitale, June 25, 1962 and Abingdon School District vs. Schempp, June 17, 1963)
Tho it made the children laugh and play to see the Lamb in school. (2 Cor 3:17: “Now The Lord is The Spirit and where the Spirit of The Lord is, there is liberty.”
And so the teacher turned it out, but still it lingered near. And waited patiently about ’til Mary did appear. (Deu 31:6: Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or scared of them; for The Lord your God Himself is Who goes with you. He will not fail you nor leave you.” AND Matt 28:20: “…Behold I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”)
“Why does The Lamb love Mary so?”, the eager children cried. (John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. AND 1 John 3:16: “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us…”
“Why Mary loves The Lamb you know.”, the teacher did reply. (1 John 4:19: “We love Him, because He first loved us.” AND Luke 7:47: “Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much…”
“Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love. Amen.” Eph 6:24
