Becoming a parent is a humbling experience. All the things you thought you knew and all the things you expected you’d do, go out the window. Seriously, I’ve gone back on my word SO many times. For example:
THEN: “I am not going to allow a baby to run my life and my schedule.”
NOW: “Sorry, guys, we can’t. Baby needs a nap.”
THEN: “I am NEVER going to be a short order cook. The kid is going to eat what I make.”
NOW: “Honey, what would you like Mommy to make you for dinner?”
THEN: “My kids will NOT act that way in public.”
NOW: “You do that one more time, and I am going to take you outside. Understand?”
THEN: “I refuse to reward bratty behavior.”
NOW: “Stop crying. Seriously, stop crying. [sigh and a huff] Want a cookie?”
THEN: “I am not going to live vicariously through my kid.”
NOW:
To this, I have only one thing to say.
“Eating crow” has never tasted so good. 🙂
Ridin’ in style,
