What’s In Your Bag? – Loaf By Loaf
Words From the Grey

What’s In Your Bag?

I want to share with you one of the most profound statements I ever heard in church. It didn’t come from a pulpit, it came from a good friend, sitting in a Sunday School class, over a cup of coffee:

“Sometimes, you have to pack a sack lunch.”

As soon as the words left her lips, I knew this was a Word straight from the heart of God. You see, I had made a comment to her of how dry the services seemed lately. And in her wisdom, and after a brief pause, she uttered the above.

Her comment hit me deep, and it hit me hard–but with an understanding that altered (or should I say altared?) my talk, and my walk.

No longer would I attend a church service expecting the pastor to “feed me”. Instead, I could go straight to The Master, every day, for a fresh revelation: a sweet connection to The Word of God dripping in Holy Spirit anointing that nourishes every fiber of those who come and dine at His Table. And then in turn, I purposed in my heart to surrender all that I had “eaten” during the week into His hands to multiply and share with anyone God placed in my path with ears to hear.

Church, as I knew it then, was no longer my restaurant. I realized that every day could be my kitchen: a place to sit, and share, all I had with me.

(I cannot help but make the connection here to the young lad with the lunch in John 6. He only had a few loaves and a couple of fish, but Jesus fed thousands when he surrendered it all into His hands that day.)

Don’t despair! Even if you feel like you have nothing to surrender, God promised He will meet us where we are, in the still and quiet places, and He will come in and sit with us, and teach us, Himself. He promised it in 1 John 2:27. And He is FAITHFUL.

“Behold I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20

“But you have received the Holy Spirit, and He lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what He teaches is true–it is not a lie. So just as He has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.” (NLT)

Once you’ve tasted REAL–you will not be satisfied with anything less! Come to The Table of Jesus. He is The Bread of Life! Be FILLED!! 🙂

Anyone HUNGRY? Let’s EAT!! 🙂

“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” Psalm 34:8
