A sick heart affects your every move. A right heart is the path of life.
It wasn’t until my physical heart acted up that I realized HOW much it affected my every move. It will even wake you from your rest! So same with your spiritual heart.
Jesus came that our spiritual hearts could be cleansed and made right. But just like our physical hearts, anxiety, poor decisions, lack of exercise, fear, and denial, can poison and affect our spiritual heart efficiency. Jude so plainly points this out in verses 20-21:
“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”
We must build ourselves up on our most holy faith. How?
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
Romans 10:17
James also exhorts us to not be hearers only, but doers:
“…but be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves…”
James 1:22
Just as the Lord made our physical hearts central to living or dying, our spiritual heart is the same. And it is of no coincidence that when Love is mentioned in our society, it is portrayed by a heart. What is His greatest commandment? LOVE.
“…THOU SHALT LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL THY HEART, AND WITH ALL THY SOUL, AND WITH ALL THY MIND.”
Matthew 22:37
LOVE Him from your whole, and healthy, heart as if your very life depends upon it–because it does! 🙂
