Day one.
I wonder how the Egyptians felt the day after the Hebrews left their soil?
Relieved? After all, those LOATHSOME plagues finally ended when Pharaoh let them go. Yet death has touched every household, and the burying of the dead has left them exhausted.
Exposed? Their entire army drowned yesterday in the Red Sea. Many orphaned children and widows were now in their midst. Their minds swirl in shock. What will they do?
Helpless? The realization hits: there are no workers. Every builder, craftsman, nanny, cook and housekeeper is now gone–along with their money, clothing and jewelry–relinquished by their own hands for reasons even they don’t understand.
Alone? The atmosphere is different. Silent terror soaks the arid Egyptian air and wraps around them like a snake on its prey. The Hebrew’s God, “the One” as they called Him, His presence departed yesterday as well…
For around 400 years now, life has been abundant, prosperous, (and until recently) carefree. Rumor has it, not since the threat of the great famine has Egypt felt like this. “How can we recover from this and go back to our normal lives? Somebody look back at the historian’s writings! Quick!!”, an Egyptian in the distance cries out.
Ah, there it is: Joseph…the Hebrew prisoner and slave. When Pharaoh put him in charge of the food, all was averted. That was the starting point of abundance…and the massive millions of Hebrews heading eastward in the distance, that is the finish. The end of an era.
What will the earth feel like when God’s people are taken away? What fear, terror and hell will unleash when God lifts His people, and His protective Spirit, from this planet?!
“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”, they say. Well, Hell hath no bounds when God lifts His protection and favor!
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Jesus speaking, in John 10:10 (NIV)
History confirms that after the exodus, Egypt was war ravaged, stripped, and crippled. Overrun by thugs and evil dictators for millennia. Their “golden era” was when God’s people were present within their borders. When they departed, life in Egypt drastically changed.
Don’t wait to see how bad it can get here, before dedicating your life over to Jesus–the time is now. Set your eyes, your heart, your entire existence onto Him. Live ready to leave “this Egypt” when He calls.
He’s coming. And sooner than you think…
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night…” 2 Peter 3:10
“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, Peace and Safety; then sudden destruction comes upon them…” 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3
“Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.” Jesus speaking, Revelation 16:15
“We then, as workers together with Him, beg you also that you receive not the grace of God in vain. For He says, ‘I have heard you in a time accepted, and in the Day of Salvation have I helped you.’ Behold, NOW is the accepted time; NOW is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 (emphasis mine)
With love in Him and in the joy of your salvation,
AMEN 🙂
